Well, not that Linux needs to be introduced. But certainly this operative system, although popular around the world, remains a little bit of an obscure topic for those Windows and Mac lovers. Based on Unix (meaning that uses it as a model, not that it works on Unix), and compatible with it, Linux was developed by Linus Torvalds as a free and open source system, consequently it is free of copyright and can be modified and updated by anyone.

Linux is divided in distributions, that is, different versions. Popular versions are Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian and OpenSUSE. The kernel works with different graphic interfaces like GNOME and KDE. Android, the very successful ad popular operative system for smartphones is based on Linux.
