The new field of Bioengineering has astounded the world with this new achievement. Like in a science fiction movie, scientist have been able to engineer a new tissue that has the ability to pulse when an electric current is applied to it. They have called it The Medusoid.
Professor Kevin Parker from Harvard University has teamed up with John Dabiri and Janna Nawroth of the California Institute of Technology to produce this tissue using rat heart’s cells combined with silicone rubber. The applications of this new discovery make think of new artificial hearts that could beat autonomously without the use of motors or cables. The possible applications are endless.
